In Microsoft Word the dissertation templates are presented in the four outline styles, namely:

1.thesis1.doc that doesn't have any chapters, divisions or sections.

2.thesis/section.doc which is an outline for section arrangement.

3.thesis/chapter.doc which is an outline for chapter arrangement.

4.PsyD title/accept.doc – an outline for the PsyD Consortium candidates.

The latter generally requires students to download one of the three templates in addition to the PsyD Title/Accept.

While choosing the style for your writing you should also check with your advisor who'll provide you with some basic instructions.

In the process of work various parts of your dissertation template can be deleted or copied. The best way here is to have the second copy as a source for copying.

Following these hints you are sure to make your writing process more successful:

-delete unnecessary information preserving section breaks;

- format the abstract page and acceptance page in such a way that no page numbers are reflected;

- choose page numbering by entering the position as top of page;

- for list of figures, list of tables, table of contents remove all unnecessary details in order to maintain proper formatting;

- literature cited – wording for this section must match wording used in the Model Journal.
