Coursework Summary
The course work presentation should be impressive and in a proper order. It should have these body parts: Introduction, The explanation or body, the findings or arguments, and the summary of findings and conclusion. Summary of the entire work in two paragraphs must bring out the essence of al the contents in the work. In other words, the coursework summary must tell the reader what you have done, and what conclusion you have reached and the logic behind it all in a nutshell. In other words, it is a précis of your entire work.
Your summary must begin at the beginning, stating the question and what you were asked to do in two or three simple sentences. Coursework summary is not elaborate. So you have to use words sparingly. Introduce the topic are first, followed by the arguments in the body in similar two or more lines with any for-and against arguments and then present a little elaborately your conclusions.
Carefully go through the entire report and all collected matter and then make a list of the important things that you feel are the ones that helped you reach your conclusions. All these points have to be explained in one or two sentences. They have then to be arranged logically along with any recommendations you may feel is necessary into one or two paragraphs.
The most important principle you must bear in mind is ‘that you must never introduce an argument or new fact in the summary. All details must be in the body, and the summary is just that: a précis of the body of the work.
Stick to Specifications:
In some cases coursework summary is required at the very beginning as the ‘Executive Summary’ and most cases separately as a ‘Summary’ heading. The principles are same for both types.
If the assignment requires the conclusion in a particular format, adhere to it. Recommendations in some cases are required. In such cases you may have to use the bulleted method as shown below:
- Recommended that the system be cleared of bugs
- Recommended that we overhaul all the machines and replace damaged disks
- Recommended that we appoint a system supervisor.
In view of all the details submitted above we conclude that the system requires to be cleared of bugs, and machines have to be overhauled. A new system supervisor will enable better performance. This we say based on the analysis of the system conducted and the noted deficiencies…etc.
Some assignments stipulate that the recommendation and conclusion be in a numbered format. It is the same as bulleted list, but with numbers:
1. Recommended that the system be cleared of bugs
2. Recommended that we overhaul all the machines and replace damaged disks
3. Recommended that we appoint a system supervisor.
Conclusion
Remember it is the summary of the course work that is very important because it gets read often, sometimes even before evaluation your work.
If you take care and then write the course work summary, it will recommend your work to the reader.
