Electronic Thesis and Dissertation

An electronic thesis and dissertation is very similar to a bound dissertation and thesis, yet some differences should be pointed out. Thus instead of printing hard copy on inkjet or laser printer this type of paper is printed in a Portable Document Format file, known as PDF, and saved for the electronic submission. Submitting your PDF version is done through online ETD Submission Form.

Required for submitting your writing are the following steps:

1.familiarize yourself with the Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Webpage.

2.graduate students have to attend workshops and take a Web CT course on using Adobe Acrobat and MS Word.

3.write your paper under your advisor's direction.

4.submit the Application for Comprehensive Assessment and Graduation in the semester in which you have to submit your paper. This should be accompanied by the receipt for Diploma Fee. The application deadline is available on the ETD webpage or in the calendar of the Graduate College Catalog.

5.submit the final draft of your writing to the advisor by the due date.

6.defend your paper before the committee.

7.make changes to your paper if recommended by the committee.

8.have the committee members sign ETD Signature Form.

9.print copies of your paper's title and abstract pages for submission to UMI.

10.convert the final version of your paper to PDF format. Don't forget to save it as required by Adobe Acrobat.
