A dissertation dedication is an optional page of your paper which provides students with a wonderful opportunity to give a special tribute to individuals, groups of people, or organizations that encouraged the student during his academic career. Thus if you use such page in your paper, the word “dedication” must be centered two inches from top of the page without punctuation. The text itself should begin on the fourth line.

The steps below will help you format this page correctly.

- make sure margins are set 1.0 right, 1.5 left, 1.25 top and bottom;

- place the heading 2 inches from top of the page;

- begin your dedication four spaces below heading making it single-spaced;

- place page number in top right.

Students frequently use acknowledgement page in their writings in which they express appreciation for and recognition of any special assistance. This page is optional, but is usually included. However it is obligatory in case some special permission has been given to use unpublished materials. As an optional page it is numbered iv.
