You could still write about something that someone has already written on, but you will have to single out your work by adding something reasonable to that or by exploring what the previous research paper failed to explore. It is important that you carry out extensive reading to make sure that there is enough material in your chosen area and to ensure that you are not reproducing a previous work.

Thesis topics concentrate on significant concerns. Thus the topic should be on attempting to address an imminent and existing problem. When I talk of existing problem, it must not completely be taken to mean that the problem must be endemic. It might still be that there is a problem underway.
